Alexander studied Garden Design in London as well at Kew. He's a member of the Society of Garden Designers (MSGD) and the Mediterranean Garden Society.

His main projects have been for private customers in southern Switzerland (Lugano), in Bahrain and Germany amongst others; and the show gardens for the Garden Festival at the Castle of Ippenburg in Lower Saxony.
